Destination · May to October
The Society Islands lie so close together that a week is enough: Tahiti, Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora, with lagoons rather than long passages in between.
French Polynesia is spread across an area of ocean the size of Western Europe, and within it the Society Islands lie so close together that a week is enough: Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora. The islands are volcanic in origin, rise to over 2,000 metres and are covered with tropical forest right up to the ridge. In front of them lie reefs and lagoons in a turquoise that looks unreal in photographs.
Below the surface it continues: sea turtles, dolphins, rays, reef sharks and shoals in every colour. Raiatea is regarded as the cultural heart of Polynesia, Tahaa grows a large part of the country's vanilla, and black pearls are farmed in its lagoon, and Huahine is the quietest of the islands, lying behind a sheltering reef.
For a charter that means short hops between the islands, sheltered lagoons to anchor in and itineraries that manage without long passages at sea. Catamarans are particularly popular here because they sit shallow in the water and reach the lagoons.
Prices on request. The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers fuel, harbour fees and provisions. It is paid in advance and settled at the end of the charter, and anything left over is refunded to you.

Names, dimensions, cabins, crew, photos and prices come from the yacht portfolio of BlueSun Luxury Yachts. Prices are guide prices per week, plus APA and local tax where applicable, and change with season and availability.
May to October is the dry season, with steady trade winds and pleasant temperatures. From November to April it is more humid, and the islands are quieter.
Usually Raiatea, Tahiti or Bora Bora. Which harbour it is depends on the yacht, and we agree it with you before you book.
Catamarans have a shallow draft and therefore reach lagoons and anchorages that deep keels have to avoid. Motor and sailing yachts are available too; the yacht search shows what is free.
Nancy Maier, founder of BlueSun Luxury Yachts, knows the harbours, the crews and the weeks that are still free. She replies within 24 hours, with a selection rather than a price list.
